other times. Dr. Mark Goldstein looks after the medical
needs of Unit II residents and visits the Home every Wednesday
morning. In addition, there are regular visits by a
psychiatrist, dermatologist, ophthamologist, optometrist,
dentist, denturist and laboratory technician to our Home to
service our residents' medical needs.
Physiotherapy Service... Physiotherapy service is available to all residents who have
a Doctor's referral. The daily times for this service are
posted on the monthly calendar. Monday, Wednesday & Friday
mornings, and Tuesday & Thursday afternoons.
V.O.N. Footcare... The V.O.N. Nurse comes to the Home every Wednesday morning from
8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Check with your Unit Manager to find
out when the VON will visit your unit. Dates are posted in
the monthly calendar.
Nursing Department...The goal of the Nursing Department is to assist each resident to attain and/or maintain their optimal level of health and self-care by providing medical services, nursing care, rehabilitation assistance and health counselling when and where necessary. Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Registered Nurses and Health Care Aides maintain round-the-clock care for those who require it. This department experiences minimal staff turnover, which has
allowed bonds to develop between these care-givers and residents.
In turn, this helps to contribute to the friendly, homelike
atmosphere that prevails.
Housekeeping Arrangements... The linen on your bed and your towels are changed every week
by the housekeeper in your particular wing. Your room is
throughly cleaned, dusted and vacuumed once a week. When
this is done it is well to leave your room and visit the
living room or one of the many lounges, or better yet, take
part in the program already in progress.
